Uneekor vs TrackMan for a Home Simulator: Which Should DFW Golfers Choose?

For most Dallas-Fort Worth homes, Uneekor is the better fit: it mounts overhead, needs less depth behind the golfer, reads unmarked balls, and delivers the club and ball data a home golfer uses. TrackMan is the better choice when you have the room depth for TrackMan 4, want the tour-standard radar data set and software, or are willing to spend more for the ceiling-mounted TrackMan iO. Both are excellent. The right answer depends on your room, your goals and your budget, in that order.

Uneekor vs TrackMan for a Home Simulator: Which Should DFW Golfers Choose?

We install both brands from our Garland showroom, and this guide is the head-to-head version of our broader TrackMan vs Uneekor vs FlightScope comparison.

How Each System Tracks the Ball

Uneekor: overhead high-speed cameras

Uneekor mounts to the ceiling in front of the golfer and uses high-speed photometric cameras to capture the club and ball at impact. The EYE XO uses two cameras. The EYE XO2 adds a third high-speed infrared camera, expands the hitting zone to 28 inches by 21 inches, and reads golf ball dimples through impact so no marked balls are required (Uneekor EYE XO2). Club stickers are recommended for club data. Uneekor lists an optimal mounting height of 10 feet.

TrackMan: radar, plus cameras

TrackMan 4 uses dual Doppler radar to track full ball flight from behind the golfer, alongside a camera for club delivery at impact. TrackMan iO moves that capability to the ceiling and combines radar with a dual camera system, tracking all data points without stickers on the ball or club (TrackMan iO explained). Radar is why TrackMan is the standard on professional tours: it measures actual flight rather than modeling it from impact.

Room Requirements: Where DFW Homes Decide the Question

This is the section that settles most decisions. TrackMan publishes the following minimums (TrackMan room guide):

• TrackMan 4: 10 feet or more ceiling height, 15 feet or more width, and 18 feet or more from screen to unit, because the radar sits behind the golfer.

• TrackMan iO: 10 feet or more ceiling height, 15 feet or more width, and 10 feet or more from screen to ball, plus swing room behind.

Uneekor’s ceiling-mounted EYE XO and EYE XO2 sit in front of the golfer, so the depth requirement is driven by the swing and the screen distance rather than a unit behind you. In practice, that is the difference between a simulator that fits a standard DFW two-car garage bay or upstairs game room and one that needs a purpose-built space.

Uneekor’s optimal mounting height of 10 feet lines up with TrackMan’s 10-foot ceiling guidance, so ceiling height rarely separates the two. Depth does. If your room is under 18 feet deep, TrackMan 4 is off the table and the choice is Uneekor versus TrackMan iO.

Data: What You Actually Get

The Uneekor EYE XO2 captures 24 ball and club data parameters, including ball speed, launch angle, spin, club path, face angle and angle of attack, with high-speed impact video that shows exactly where you struck the face. For a home golfer working on contact and path, that impact video is often the most-used feature in the room.

TrackMan’s radar measures the full flight and reports the tour data set golfers see on broadcasts, with TrackMan’s own software and reporting tools. If you take lessons from a TrackMan-equipped coach, having the same numbers at home is a real advantage.

Both systems are accurate enough for serious practice and course play. The difference is in what each is best at: Uneekor at impact detail and room flexibility, TrackMan at measured flight and a coaching ecosystem.

Software and Course Play

Uneekor pairs with its own software and with third-party platforms such as TruGolf E6 Connect, which includes 28 courses on the standard license and subscription tiers that open the full library (TruGolf E6 Connect). TrackMan runs Virtual Golf, which TrackMan states works only with TrackMan 4 and TrackMan iO and calls for a Windows 11 PC with 32 GB of RAM, an Intel i7 processor and an RTX 4080 graphics card for 4K play (TrackMan tech specs). Either way, you get course play, practice ranges, challenges and online competition.

Which One Should You Choose?

Choose Uneekor if

• Your room is a garage bay, game room or bonus room with limited depth.

• You want impact video and club data for working on strike and path.

• You want the strongest value in a permanent, ceiling-mounted install.

• You plan to run TruGolf E6 Connect or another third-party course library.

Choose TrackMan if

• You have 18 feet or more of depth, or the budget for TrackMan iO.

• You work with a coach who uses TrackMan and want matching numbers at home.

• You want measured ball flight and the tour-standard data set.

• You are building a commercial space where the TrackMan name carries weight with members or guests.

What We See in DFW Installations

Uneekor is the most popular residential installation in our DFW builds because it fits the rooms people actually have. It anchors both our Players and Champions packages. TrackMan projects tend to be purpose-built rooms in Dallas, Southlake and Frisco, plus commercial installs where the brand matters. The best way to decide is to measure the room and hit on both systems, which you can do at our Garland showroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Uneekor as accurate as TrackMan?

Both are accurate enough for serious practice and course play. Uneekor measures at impact with high-speed cameras; TrackMan measures actual flight with radar. The differences show up in specific metrics rather than overall usability.

Which needs less room, Uneekor or TrackMan?

Uneekor and TrackMan iO both mount overhead and need less depth. TrackMan 4 needs 18 feet or more from screen to unit because the radar sits behind the golfer.

Do I need special balls for Uneekor or TrackMan?

No. The Uneekor EYE XO2 reads unmarked balls using dimple recognition, and TrackMan iO requires no stickers or markings. Uneekor recommends club stickers for club data.

Can I run E6 Connect on TrackMan?

TrackMan’s Virtual Golf software works only with TrackMan 4 and TrackMan iO. Uneekor pairs with its own software and with third-party platforms such as E6 Connect. Ask us about the current software options for each during your consultation.

Which is better for a commercial installation?

Both work. TrackMan carries name recognition with members and guests, while Uneekor’s overhead mounting suits multi-bay layouts with limited depth. We plan commercial builds around throughput and the space.
